One of our favorite things about summer is garden fresh tomatoes! From small, sweet snacking tomatoes to big beefsteak tomato sandwiches, the possibilities are endless. Fried green tomatoes is a quintessential Southern, summer dish along with fresh buttermilk biscuits and sweet tea.
Our fried green tomato recipe draws from the deep south with a touch of Cajun to spice up your day. When the acidic flavors of the green tomato combines with our tangy Homestead Creamery buttermilk, it’s simply mouthwatering.
Combine eggs and buttermilk in a soaking bowl. Then, combine flour and cajun seasoning in one bowl and breadcrumbs and parmesan in another bowl.
Warm up a medium sauce pan with vegetable oil. Slice tomatoes to approximately 1/4-1/2 inch in thickness. Then, dip into batter mixes in this order:
1. Cajun seasoning and flour
