Fresh Cheeses Added To Homestead Line Up
Among the glass bottle milk, hand-pressed butter, and small batch ice cream, you can now find three types of cheese with the Homestead Creamery label! Mild cheddar, monetary jack, and a pepper jack are available through the company’s Farm Market and Home Delivery service. Local retail stores and restaurants will also be able to purchase the cheese.
The creamery could not add cheese to its product offering fast enough. “We’ve had so many requests for cheese that we decided not to wait any longer.” according to Mike Grisetti, Homestead Creamery’s president. “We’re expanding our plant to make room for several additional cheese flavors down the road.” But for now, the Creamery is partnering with another small, family-owned company to make the cheese out of its milk. Homestead Creamery is taking its milk to Ashe County Cheese in West Jefferson, NC where it is being processed into 12-ounce blocks of cheese. Grisetti noted, “It’s from the same cows and the same great tasting milk that we’re known for. We choose Ashe County Cheese because they have been making cheese for generations.”
The new Homestead Creamery cheese is all-natural, with no added hormones or antibiotics. Samples of the cheese will be given to Home Delivery customers and to visitors to the company’s Farm Market. The company hopes to add additional cheese flavors in time for the holidays.
