Dessert Bars with a Holiday Twist
Yesterday, we returned to WFXR’s Good Day Cafe yesterday to share another great holiday recipe! This time, we brought in the eggnog to make a delicious eggnog bar recipe that’s quick enough for last minute and easy enough for the kids to help. Think of it as lemon bars for the holidays!
1Step One: Make the Crust
Preheat the oven to 350°(F). Mix the softened butter and sugar into a bowl at medium speed until creamy. Add flour and nutmeg and mix at low speed. No need to grease your pan, our butter's butterfat will help make the dish non-stick. Press mix into the bottom of the baking dish. Bake for about 15 minutes to partially cook the crust.
2Step Two: Mix the Eggnog Filling
Start with softening the 2, 8 oz. bars of cream cheese. Then, mix in the sugar, vanilla extract, 3 eggs, and Homestead Creamery eggnog. Whisk the mix at medium speed to give it a little extra body before pouring into the crusted baking dish. Be sure to top it off with a sprinkle of nutmeg for extra flavor!
3Step Three: Bake, Cool, and Serve
Bake for 30 minutes in 350°(F) until the mix fully sets. Be sure to let the dish cool completely before cutting and top with dried cranberries if you're feeling festive. Wet your butter knife before you cut in for a cleaner cut.
Pair with a cool, creamy glass of Homestead Creamery Custard!
