Everyone knows the old wive’s tale that drinking a warm glass of milk before bed could send you off to sleep without having to count sheep. But is just an old wives tale? The latest Ayurvedic trend says no!

Moon milk is said to help you fall asleep each night by combining milk, spices, oils, and adaptogens. This special combination creates an elixir that’s perfect for relaxing the mind and body before you drift off to sleep. The spices and adaptogens can reduce blood pressure, provide mental clarity, and boost your immune system – just like our healing Golden Milk!

We’ve scoured the internet for some of the most popular moon milk combinations and made our own! It’s just a bonus that these night time drinks are aesthetically pleasing, too! 😍

White Chocolate Raspberry Rose

Made with ashwagandha – a root and berry that is an adaptogen known to help with daily stress, arthritis pain, trouble sleeping, and more – this rich moon milk recipe adds an extra dose of calm with a dash of rosewater.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of your favorite Homestead Creamery milk
  • 1 tablespoon of melted cacao butter
  • 1/4 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1 teaspoon of powdered ashwaganda
  • 1 teaspoon of rosewater
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup

Warm the cacao butter, milk, and raspberries in a small pot until almost boiling. Stir constantly to prevent the milk from overcooking, then transfer to blender. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Drink while warm!

Lavender Moon Milk

Lavender is one of the most common herbs used to soothe the body and mind. Combined with the warming flavors of Earl Grey and honey, this moon milk is a dream in itself.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. of your favorite Homestead Creamery Milk
  • 3 oz. of boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of edible lavender buds
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 1 decaf Earl Grey tea bag

Fill your mug halfway with boiling water and soak the teabag. While it steeps, steam your milk with an espresso maker or the stovetop. Add honey and vanilla to the water and stir gently while pouring in the milk. Using a mesh tea strainer, add the lavender buds and drink while warm!

Ginger Cinnamon & Vanilla Maca Milk

Maca is a Peruvian root that is a popular superfood known to be rich in antioxidants, improves energy and mood, and could even help with fertility problems. Combined with the soothing flavors of ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla, this moon milk makes the perfect night cap.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of your favorite Homestead Creamery milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of coconut butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon of maca powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Gently stirring, bring the milk close to boiling. Then add it to a blender with the remaining ingredients, blending on high for 1-2 minutes until frothy. Sip and soothe!
