Like Homestead, Wegmans began as a family operation. Coming from wholesome roots selling fresh produce in a pushcart in Rochester, brothers Walter and John Wegman opened the Rochester Fruit & Vegetable Company, later growing to become the Wegmans Food Market we know and love today.
